Story of Anita and Finland

My name is Anita and I am from Denmark. I have been a Nightwish fans since 2007 when I
heard Dark Passion Play in a record shop in Copenhagen. I was listening through the entire
symphonic metal section and immediately I was hooked.

I’ve always had a longing for travelling to Finland. I was drawn to the country, and I can’t really explain why. As a kid I was always watching Moomin. I loved the Moomin characters and the Moomin valley. Later Finland became this mysterious country up north. I always wondered why my family and I never went there and explored the country.

The first time I finally came to Finland was in 2023 to see Nightwish in Helsinki Icehall, and later that same year I stayed at a friend’s cottage by the lake in the forest. It was magical. I felt at home. I love the forest, the lakes, the snow, the cold, the midnight sun, the dark winters (believe it or not), and the silence.
I remember sitting at the lake at the cottage watching the sun go down, and it was like I could hear Nightwish everywhere. In the trees, the water, the sun.

Luckily my family loves Finland as well, most of my friends live here, and there is so much more to explore so whenever there is a chance to go back, I will go back.
